Since the new year, we’ve tried our best to transform our food lifestyle to a cleaner, raw solution. It started off with a bang. We’re talking completely trashing all of the processed junk in one giant sweep. And it lasted a solid two to three months. Until we noticed Taylor’s weight continuing to drop. He had more energy but he wasn’t at a healthy weight for his body type. So, we started re-introducing grains, and grains turned to dairy and dairy turned to sugar. Next thing ya know, one late night (and hungry trip) to Target ended us with a freezer full of toaster strudels, pizza bites and breakfast sandwiches. Then, came the after shock. It didn’t take long for my body to be completely rocked by all the junk I was snacking on here and there. Just because it was “easy”. And, so the rude awakening of why we made this lifestyle transition in the first place. To feel better inside, both physically and mentally. I’ve since cut out dairy and have noticed a huge change in my skin (BIG bonus points). In it’s place, I’ve substituted almond and coconut milk. And, our meals (if I manage to defrost the chicken or beef in time) have been so much cleaner. I always thought it was a bunch of hooplah that what you put in your body can affect how you feel. No hooplah, over here. All legitimate and I’m hooked on feeling good.
If you hadn’t perused Instagram recently, you may have missed that we’re bringing another little lady into the family! Baby Broderick II will be gracing us with her presence late Fall 2016. We’re over the moon! But, it also meant my goal of doing a juice cleanse had to be slightly adjusted to make sure I was getting enough calories. I opted for the Soft Boot Cleanse locally made in Sugarhouse, UT at Just Organic Juice. It’s the perfect starter kit. Six juices and designed for those that need a higher caloric intake, aka athletes, first timers, and preggos that are still eating three meals a day. Yep, I fell into the last category. It was delicious and such a fresh burst throughout the day. Definitely something I look forward to going at full charge once I’m post pregnant/breastfeeding. In the meantime, I fulfilled my creative side by adding some of the raw ingredients used to make the juices to my grocery list. And, I came up with some of my favorite images to date.
